Weekend at Walt Disney World

This past weekend we were able to have some good old Disney fun with my husband’s family. Having grown up in Orlando, I have been to Disney many times. Surprisingly, this weekend was filled with a lot of firsts! I am going to give a play by play of what we did and give honest reviews of everything.

Saturday

The afternoon started off with lunch at Chef Mickey’s at the Contemporary Resort. The restaurant is buffet style, although I was surprised to see breakfast food at 1 in the afternoon! Supposedly they serve brunch instead of lunch.

My thoughts: This restaurant is not for foodies. If you want an amazingly delicious buffet that is the same price, go to Boma (which is my all-time favorite restaurant btw). However, if you have younger children that love Mickey and Minnie, then this is the place to be. It’s character dining, which means you will meet Mickey, Minnie, Donald, Goofy, and even Pluto. It was probably the highlight of the weekend for my niece and two nephews, and their excitement made us excited too. I will add that the dessert is very scrumptious, and the food is still good.

After this we hung out at Disney Springs for a little while, and then headed over to Magic Kingdom. It’s one of those places that never stops being magical.

Places visited/Things done: Country Bear Jamboree, Move It! Shake It! Dance & Play It! Street Party, Blueline, Space Mountain, Haunted Mansion

Highlight: The new Happily Ever After Firework Show! It is amazing and definitely a must see while at Disney! I liked the previous show Wishes somewhat, but this show blows it out of the water. If you can’t see it in person, you can watch it here.

Sunday

We stayed at the Art of Animation Resort overnight and mainly spent the day relaxing at the pool there. Once again, this resort is mainly for families with young children. It has four sections based off of The Disney movies Finding Nemo, The Little Mermaid, Cars, and The Lion King. We stayed in the Finding Dory section.

I always have a great time at the most magical place on earth! If you have any questions on where to eat, places to stay, etc., don’t hesitate to ask!
