The Food of Pandora

Some people may think my husband’s and my love of Disney is crazy. We get many, “You’re at Disney again?!” statements. But we don’t let those downers get to us, because we know Disney World is amazing for many reasons, one being the food.

However, I am not here to write a 10 page paper on why you should go to Disney solely for the food alone, even though you really ought to. I am here to give you an honest review on the food of Pandora: The World of Avatar (Spoiler Alert: It’s delicious).

There are two places to eat at Pandora, they are Pongu Pongu and Satu’li Canteen. Both are quick service, but Pongu Pongu is more of a grab-and-go while Satu’li Canteen is a sit down area. They are directly across from each other. If you are entering Pandora, turn far right and you will find them both.

Pongu Pongu

A outdoor bar-like lounge, this stand mainly offers alcoholic drinks. My husband and I do not drink, however there were two specialty items here that I recommend trying.

What to get:

  1. Night Blossom

This non-alcoholic specialty beverage is delicious and very sweet. I only purchased one because I heard they were better for sharing, but my husband pretty much drank all of it and got upset each time I took a few sips. It’s a mixture of limeade with apple and desert pear flavors topped with passion fruit boba balls. Just try it, trust me.

Passion Fruit Boba Balls = Yum!

2. Pongu Lumpia

I sadly did not get a picture of this, but it is the only food item offered at Pongu Pongu, and it was my favorite thing I tried in all of Pandora. What is it exactly?  A pineapple cream cheese spring roll. I don’t even like pineapple, and this was insanely delicious.

Never Skip Dessert

While it also offers breakfast, we only experienced the lunch/dinner menu. This place offers some of the healthiest eating options I have seen in all of Disney, and is perfect for all of us tired of only being offered chicken nuggets, burgers, and pizza for our quick service meals (I’m sadly looking at you, Universal).

What to get:

  1. Build Your Own Bowl

The only problem is that Disney didn’t join this concept sooner. You choose what meat, base (such as rice), and sauce you want. Each bowl also comes with vegetable slaw and boba balls. There is a vegetarian option as well. I chose grilled chicken with rice and chimichurri sauce.

Only Regret:  Getting the sauce on the side instead of dumping it on to begin with

2. Cheeseburger Steamed Pods – Bao Buns

Disney calls it a “Steamed Cheeseburger Pod stuffed with Ground Beef, Ketchup, Mustard, Pickle, and Cheddar Cheese served with Crunchy Vegetable Slaw and Vegetable Chips”. I call it a fancy McDonald’s Cheeseburger, because I don’t know how or why, but it tastes exactly like one. They also offer these pods with vegetable curry inside, which we will definitely try next time.

The bun is also surprisingly deceiving, since it looks like a sticky bun, but really is in fact bread and has that consistency.

3. Blueberry Cream Cheese Mousse

Its funky looking, but that is exactly why you should get it. Why get the other boring option (chocolate cake) when you can have this scrumptious dessert that has blueberry mousse, passion fruit mousse, and white chocolate?

Everything you want in a dessert

There you have it, the food of Pandora. And now that I’m done writing this, I want another Pongu Lumpia. Ah well, guess we can’t have everything.

What’s your favorite Disney snack?
