My husband and are self-proclaimed foodies. We have a never ending list of restaurants we want to eat at here in Tampa Bay, and are always looking for new places to try. So when we first heard about The Hall on Franklin which opened in mid-2017, we knew we had to add it to the list. It had everything we look for in a good restaurant; innovation, quality food, and pleasing atmosphere.
Before I dive into this review, I wanted to mention a few things about The Hall on Franklin that first drew me to it. The main attraction to me was that The Hall is an appropriately named food hall with 5 different eateries, a coffee shop, and a bar. You can choose to eat one of two different ways, the first by going to each individual dining option and ordering; and the second by sitting down and having a waiter/waitress place your order to all the various eateries for you. Another factor I found interesting is that all of the furniture is for sale. I didn’t ask about the prices on the various furniture, but there was one couch that my husband and I fell in love with.
When we arrived we weren’t given the best first impression. There was no parking and we had to park in a tow away zone parking lot a few blocks away (not to worry though, we weren’t towed). Also, the place was incredibly busy for a weekday at 2 pm and we had to wait for a table, seeing as we chose the latter option of the two I mentioned earlier. However, our moods were immediately lifted once we sat down.
We wanted to try at least one thing from each eatery, so here is everything we ordered.
Kofe – Sorrel (Soda)
Bake’n Babes – Baguette with Brie and Jam
Heights Fish Camp – Waffle Fries with Sauce Bar
Melt Shoppe – Mons Te Venus Sandwhich
North Star Eatery – Stinky Bunz: Chinese BBQ Pork Stuffed Bao Slider
Poke Rose: Tamarind Curry Chicken and Yuzu Chili Rice Noodle
Out of everything we tried, the only thing I did not enjoy was the Sorrel soda (see face below). If you enjoy tonic water you will probably like it, but I found it disgusting.
On the other hand, everything else was extremely delicious! My personal favorite was the curry chicken and rice noodle, and I will definitely be getting the baguette again next time we come. My husband in particular loved the sauce bar for the waffle fries which included 8 different dipping sauces to choose from. Overall, we will absolutely be coming here again, but most likely not on a weekend.
Have you been to The Hall on Franklin? What was your favorite thing there?
Looks yummy
