Flamingo Gardens had been on my list of places to visit since we moved to the Fort Lauderdale/Miami Area, and it did not disappoint! It spans 60 acres and houses an animal sanctuary, aviary, beautiful gardens, a historic home, and of course, flamingos. They actually host weddings here and it’s easy to see why as the grounds are so beautiful! Another interesting tidbit, cats and wild peacocks roam everywhere. We even saw a mother peacocks with two babies, which I had never seen before.
We came on a weekday right in the morning when it opened and it was not crowded at all, we pretty much had the place to ourselves. We left around noon and that is when the people started trickling in and it became more busy. We were at Flamingo Gardens for around 3 hours and accomplished pretty much everything they had to offer. They offer student discounts and even have a coupon on their website which you can find here.
Overall, if you are in the Fort Lauderdale area and are looking for something ‘different’ to do, I recommend giving this place a try. It’s quaint and a little un-organized, but that’s exactly why we loved it.
My shirt is from SheIn, and I was unable to find the exact top but this one is in the same print.
Where are some places you like to visit while being a ‘tourist’ in your own town?
