Vizcaya Museum and Gardens is a historical home found in Coral Gables (Miami), FL. I have had the pleasure of visiting Vizcaya twice, once with a friend in the summer of 2019, and again in January 2020 with family. This post includes pictures from both trips. So no, I did not pack two separate outfits. I am not that extra…yet. Vizcaya is a beautiful place to visit as it sits right on the water and has a lovely view of Biscayne Bay. I find it to be unique in terms of tourist attractions Miami has to offer.

The house and gardens are not large, and you will most likely not spend more than 2-3 hours here, even if you elect to do the hour long tour of the house. The house was inspired by Italian architecture (similar to the Ringling Bros. home in Sarasota), and features both Italian and French gardens.

Tips for Visiting
- Vizcaya offers various discounts including student, child, and senior discounts, but they are only offered onsite. The lines are never more than 5 minutes, so it’s worth waiting to get those discounts.
- The opening days/hours are somewhat random so make sure to check before you visit.
- House tours are an extra $5, offered 5 times a day, and last about an hour. I found the tour to be very interesting but it’s not 100% necessary if you are just visiting to appreciate the beauty of the house and gardens.
- South Florida is very hot and humid, so the earlier in the day you arrive, the better. Vizcaya also gets busier as the day goes on so getting there earlier will help you avoid the crowds.
