Our Stay at the Claremont Hotel – Maine

Front of The Claremont Hotel

The Claremont Hotel is found in Southwest Harbor, Maine on Mount Desert Island. We stayed here in late September 2021 on a trip to Acadia National Park. I think it says a lot about the Claremont that I am giving this hotel its very own blog post, it quickly drew us in with both its views and charm. In full transparency, I consider it very lucky that this hotel was one of only two options available to stay in because I definitely originally planned on booking something less pricey and would have overlooked this hotel in favor of something cheaper. In the end though, it was very much worth it.

General Info

The Claremont was recently purchased by a new owner and went under a complete renovation, reopening in Summer 2021. It hosts one main building, two houses with additional guest rooms, as well as individual cabins and cottages that are perfect for families. We stayed in the Summer House, one of the two additional guest buildings.

As is the case with many of the hotels in the area, the Claremont is only open May – October.

Both the interior and the exterior of the hotel is very charming. Each bedroom has a similar interior design but all are unique. I sadly did not get photos of our room, but we did get some photos of the inside of the main building. We ate breakfast all three mornings we stayed here, and enjoyed the beautiful water views.

In short, we would plan a stay here annually if we could. It was relaxing, romantic and secluded. Maybe one day when we have kids we will stay in one of the cottages or cabins!
