Loving Lately: Summer 2023

Spot the 4 things I love in this photo!

I first wrote this kind of blog post in Summer 2020 during the peak of the Covid-19 pandemic. My life is definitely a lot different now than it was then! Lately I’ve wanting to get back into writing on the blog again, but was struggling to know what to write! Except for a few day trips, we haven’t really traveled much since having a baby in November and those are the majority of the posts that I write because I enjoy looking back on those memories. However when I first started this blog back in 2017 I used to write all kinds of blog posts, and I want to start doing that again. I decided to keep it simple and ease back into it with this post.

Fashion

Having a baby and becoming a stay at home mom has definitely changed my sense of style in many ways. If I am going out I still enjoy dressing up and wearing makeup, but the current reality is that I am mostly at home. Now I get excited picking out what hat I am going to wear on my morning walk haha. But there have been a few things I have snagged in the past few months that I am loving!

Mom Jeans – While shopping with my mom at the mall one day I decided to try out different pairs of jeans at of all places, Hollister. I have been exclusively wearing skinny jeans from high school onward so it was fun to try on the different styles! To my surprise, I fell in love with this pair.

Croc Sandals – My birthday purchase. I’ve been buying sandals from Target every couple years and figured it was time to get something more comfortable and that would actually last. I’ve had a pair of croc wedges for the past few years that I love so I knew these would be great! I was very tempted to get the pink but opted for a classic black.

Barbie Bow Swimsuit – I had been eyeing this swimsuit for a long time, and when they had a Memorial Day weekend sale I pounced. Who else is ready for a Barbie Girl summer?

Reversible Bucket Hat – This is from the live action Little Mermaid collection (which you should go see!) and I love the colors! Link is eBay since the hat is sold out on Shop Disney, I got mine at Disney Springs.

Baby Items

Since I have a 7th month old I figured I would add a few baby items!

BOB Stroller – Story time, when I was pregnant and researching strollers a jogging stroller was the last thing on my mind. I was all set to get the Mockingbird and then we walked into Buy Buy Baby (RIP) to look at strollers and my husband said “I want a jogging stroller”. Both of his sisters had/have BOB strollers and they have lasted forever. We ended up testing a couple (including the UPPABaby jogging stroller) and choosing this one! It is a beast at 30 pounds and I struggled at first getting it in and out of the car, but 7 months in and I love the thing.

TushBaby – I totally fell for Instagram ads with this one. This little carrier is the perfect size for baby right now, and he absolutely loves it. It’s great for waiting in lines at Disney, going to the store, and I even used it for a solo trip to our local zoo. They periodically offer coupon codes (mine was a Mother’s Day/birthday gift and they had 20% Mother’s Day code) so I recommend waiting to purchase until you see a sale!

Miscellaneous

Subtract Album – Ed Sheeran has been a favorite of ours since album #1 and his newest album is sad, but beautiful. The sound is very similar to his first album +, which I love. We were lucky enough to hear some of this album live on his tour in May.

Libby App – Now that the baby is finally taking longer naps in the afternoons, I have been doing a lot of reading. A friend mentioned the Libby app and it is amazing! All you need is your library card and you get access to everything your library has. My husband uses it to listen to audiobooks whereas I read the e-books.

Some of the books I’ve read recently and loved include: Tomorrow and Tomorrow and Tomorrow, Lessons in Chemistry, and lots of Lisa Jewell. So far my favorite Lisa Jewell novel has been I Found You.

Books I have on hold: The Nightingale, Daisy Jones & the Six, The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo, The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes, Book Lovers

Never Have I Ever – The Netflix show premiered its 4th and final season and while I felt like some characters should have gotten more screen time, overall I thought it was just as heartwarming as the previous seasons and ended on a good note. If you’ve seen it, I wanna know your favorite character!

What have you been loving lately? Are you as excited for the Barbie movie as I am?
